Who is Jan Kregel?

Jan Kregel began his academic career at the University of Cambridge and continued there. At Cambridge, he was a student of the world-renowned economists Joan Robinson and Nicholas Kaldor. He later completed his doctoral education under the supervision of Paul Davidson at Rutgers University.

Jan Kregel has held visiting professorships and research fellowships at many different universities throughout his academic career. This has allowed him to experience many different schools of economic and financial thought and develop his own theoretical approach. One of Kregel’s most significant academic roles is his position as Professor of Finance and Development at Tallinn University since 2006.

Additionally, Kregel is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins SAIS and served as an executive at the Bologna Center in the late 1980s. He also serves as a visiting professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

However, Kregel’s academic career is not limited to his roles at various universities around the world. Kregel served as Chief of the Policy Analysis and Development Branch for the United Nations Economic and Social Council until 2007. He also served as Senior Expert in International Finance and Macroeconomics at the UNCTAD New York Office until 2004.
